| WIMBLEDON |
[Jun. 26th, 2007|11:32 pm] |
I will update tomorrow/soon about how awesome wimbledon was today, but first - look at the message I just found on my computer when I got home, from a girl at my college that I dont really know (who is studying in Germany at the moment):
"hi, this is totally random i know, but just seen you and your friends on german telly at wimbledon watching the becker/chela match! thought u might like to know!! hope you enjoyed the match - the people they shpwed in front of you were asleep! x"
Of course I enjoyed the match!!! and yay, we were on TV in Germany! We could see the back of the BBC pressroom from where we were, and also 'Today at Wimbledon'... I hope we were on some English TV - I guess I'll never know! (unless anyone saw us?!) |

less than 48hours to go......
my revision to break ratio is getting smaller and smaller. I can now work no more than 45mins before I need a break. Sooooo much to learn before 9:30 tomorrow morning! Tomorrow however, will be worse. I have a 3hr exam in the morning (and its the worst exam - Atomic, Nuclear and Partile Physics), then I have to come home and cram like crazy for another 3 hour exam on friday. Still, at least I'll be done soon......
if only I can stay awake for the rest of today |

my brain is feeling all fuzzy.... i'm sure there is no room for any more physics!
I am so bored of revision. Everyday I get up around 9, try and revise till lunch, then do a really bad attempt at revision till dinner (the afternoon revision never goes well 'cause I ended up falling asleep or watching TV or something), then dinner. I am so bored of doing the same thing everyday. I'm so glad there are only 3 more days left 'till exams start. I mean I don't know enough for them, but I really just want to get them done now. I a looking foward to the after exam celebrations so much - the past few weeks we have seen so many students celebrating, its not fair! Only one more week.... this time in 7 days I'll be one of them! |

Who decided that exams should be in the summer? It was a bad decision. I got back to Oxford on Sunday and the whether has been lovely since. Mark and I had a bbq Sunday. Monday I visited Debby in Sheffield which was really nice. We wandered around, ate lunch out in the park and went for a walk with Paul in the peak district - it really could've been June, not April. So now I'm supposed to spend the next 8 weeks revising hard and learning the last years work, so I can sit 3 exams in 8 weeks time that will decide 60% of my degree. But theres bbq's and tennis and punting and so many other nice things that I'd rather (and prob will) be doing instead. Our degree results would DEF be better if we had to sit our exams in December. When its rainy and cold out then I wouldn't mind staying in to revise.
On another note, I checked my bank account and it had £46, and I just got my student loan (just over £1000) the other week. That sucks. Although the bank owes me about £500.... but thats still not enough money to travel around India for 4 months.
So yea, it was really cool seeing Debby again. Just having a chat and reminiscing about elementary/middle school is always good fun. I'm so glad we've managed to keep in touch, and we've met in some pretty random places over the last few years (Ohio, Germany, Sheffield....where next?)
I'm now undecided on whether to do a bit more revision, or go out for a run to wake me up a bit. I ran along the Thames tow path the other day and it was really nice.... |

Went to St Catz (one of the other colleges) last night with Kamal and Hannah (two girls I went to Kenya with) which was really nice. It was a posh formal dinner, with lots of alcohol and the bar was open till 2. We had lots of fun reminising about Kenya - I miss it so much! It was lovely to talk about it all with people who have been there and understand what an amazing place it is! Today Kamal and I showed Hannah around Oxford 'cause she'd never been, but now I'm a bit tired and not really looking forward to this evening - off to the pub in 5 mins 'cause I'd promised Ceri ages ago that we'd go out when her brother came to visit. So we're off clubbing tonight, and then I'm working at 8am tomorrow morning! Oh dear..... I might not go to bed, it may be better that way... |

I'm so proud of myself. I made it to lifesaving this morning. It's only the second time this academic year, so it's quite an acheivment. Braving the subzero temperatures at 7:30am when I usually stay in bed till 12 is not easy.
Although I didnt swim very far. And now im just tired. So im not sure it was really worth it... |

I'm now going to be volunteering in India (Darjeeling) for 10 weeks on August 5th!
Yay!
I'm so excited. Now I must try and contain my excitement enough to do lots of uni work between now and then. |

back to uni on sunday - not really looking forward to it.
I have failed to do any revision this week as everything else is more exciting. Take today as an example; I got up at 8:30. It is now 11:30. So far I have watched two episodes of Desparate Housewives, read books on India, and just now showered. All of this when I should have be learning physics. And Mark will be over in 2 hours.
It means that my next week will be horrible as I have to spend all day everyday preparing for my exams. In fact, the next9 weeks will be horrible as I will not only have my normal amount of work, but also my project to do.
The plus side is, I am all very relaxed about it. I seem to be doing no work, and don't seem to bothered at the prospect of graduating in 5 months and possibly failing my finals. I have however spent lots of hours this week trying to sort out what I am doing next year. At the moment I plan to go to India in Aug/Sept, work there for 2-3months and then travel around the country (1-2months). I'm annoyed cause I wanna go away for longer and go to other places but I have to be back around Jan to sort out applying for a job for the following year. Oh well, if I have any money left I can always go away again. So yea, I wanna book my volunteer placement asap before they all book up (It's in Darjeelng on a tea estate, doing all kinds of things - teaching, carework, farming etc) but my mum says I have to tell my dad about it first and he's away. There really isn't any point though cause he doesnt think I should go, so he's not exactly going to be optimistic about it all.
Has anyone been to india and got helpful hints for me?
ok, really going start going some work now..... |

[Dec. 30th, 2006|11:12 pm] |
Once again, I did no uni work today.
Tomorrow's New Years Eve. I'm quite excited. The past 2 years Mark and I have been to the same party. We were planning on going there again this year. It's good fun and all, but a change is good. So yea, Aarany is now having a party at her flat in London. We're gonna go watch the fireworks by the river which is cool - I've only seen them on TV before so I'm excited.
I've turned into an old lady recently and seem to have to go to bed before 10 every day and sleep for at least 10 hours. This is not right. However, it does mean I should get to bed soon if I want any chance of being able to stay up past midnight tomorrow! |

Yay for Christmas.
Finished uni, did a week's work experience, came home for a day, flew to Salzburg with Mark for 4 days which was really good, came home, did nothing. Since then I have done about 2 weeks of nothing, eating lots, and watching tv. I go back to uni in a week and I have done no revision for my exams in 2 weeks. Oops. |

[Nov. 28th, 2006|11:19 am] |
my bike got stolen on saturday night sometime during our party.... that sucks.
I've walked into town twice since then. 30-40min walks just to go to lectures/tutorials do not make me happy.
The only good thing is the insurance company thinks it was worth £200. It was actually worth £70. So today I will go bike shopping for a much better bike than before! |

so this would be that kind of entry when I say something quick, but then follow it with something like "i'll post a real entry with updates about my life soon".... except I know I won't cause I never do. I'm far too lazy, so you just get the 'something quick'...
over half way through term now. In fact, only 2.5 weeks left till it's over. Then I'm doing work experience at the hospital for a week before I go home! I'm home for a day, then I fly off to Salzburg for 4 days with Mark. But shhhh, its a surprise, for his bday/christmas. I love RyanAir.... £40 for two of us to get to Austria and back is amazing! Youth hostels are also good.
Annual physics curry tomorrow night. Last year Ceri had to carry me back to college at 10.30 and put me to bed. Aim for this year: do not drink 2 whole bottles of wine in front of your tutors!
It's crazy that I'm posting this early. I'm so tired. I couldnt get up this morning, then when I finally did I thought I was running late so I rushed so much that now I'm early. 9am lecture. Have to leave in 5mins or so.
Teeth brushing time... |

I'm going to Kenya in less than 5 days! I sorted out my train while I'm out there, ordered my money, and spoke to a lady at the company I'm going with, so now im really excited about going. I'm also nervous about spending over 5 weeks out there, especially as the village I'm going to doesnt seem to be on any maps!
But yea, in general, I cant wait. The lady I spoke to today told me to take lots of old clothes I didnt mind leaving out there, so that I can fill my bag with presents on the way home! |

This time tomorrow I will be in Germany!
my flight coming home appears to be less than an hour which is funny. It's actually just less than 2 hours, but less than an hour would be nicer! |
